Numbers - The Power of Numerology

"Numerology is based on the belief that numbers, especially the primary numbers from 1 to 9, influence people's lives and personalities Every person has numbers associated with his birth and name." -History of the Occult by T. Wayne Griffon

There are several sorces on the meanings of the numbers. Two that I recommend are "History of the Occult" which may be hard to come by or "Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft" which will be easier to find. No matter which reference you go with, you will find an eerie connection with numbers.

First, your birth number. You would take the month, day and year you were born as shown below:

April 6, 1981 which translates to 4/6/1981

We now break down the numbers to individual: 4+6+1+9+8+1=29

Since we are trying to get to prime numbers, we will break this down till we get a prime number.

2+9=11=1+1=2

2 is my birth number.

"2. Moon - Water
Sensitive, domestic. Tends to be emotional and easily influenced to tears. Has a fertile imagination. Accepts changes in surroundings. Prefers to live near water. Often possesses musical talents and would make a very good psychic." -Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft

Okay, those of you who know me really well might be like "holy crapballs that IS Meg." Yes, as I told you, numerology is eerily accurate.

Next, let's take a look at what our name really says about us. We will break down our name with the chart below:

My name number is 4

"As a name number, 4 stands for stability. Other people like 4's because they are dependable and trustworth. Number 4's are even-tempered and good in an emergency. Though some may describe 4's as plodding, their endurance makes up for any lack of brilliance." - History of the Occult

In Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft, it is suggested to take a name that will match your birth number. The logic behind this is that your name may be changed any time you wish, but you can never change when you were born. If you choose a second name for the Craft, think carefully. As I was skimming through name lists, I found that "Teagan," which is very close to "Megan," is a name number 2. If I choose to take a second name for the Craft, this would probably be it.

It would take me quite a while to list out each number and it's meaning for both your name and birth, so I'm not going to do it. I do, however, wish everyone to give this a try. The two books I have listed can be found at most public libraries or if you know me and live close to me, you can always borrow mine.
